The SMMA monthly meeting will be on Monday, August 18th, at 11:00 am. We need a good showing of SCV members to be present. August 18th Board Meeting LOCATION: Evergreen Conference Center Address: 4021 Lakeview Dr, Stone Mountain, GA 30083 Center Rotunda Conference Room TIME: 11:00 AM

CALL to ACTION:

I ask all members to come to the monthly SMMA meeting on Monday, August 18th, at 11:00 am to help show support against the changes being made to Stone Mountain.

To get on the list to speak, you must call the SMMA office at (770) 498-5611. Call ASAP to get on the list before the list fills up with the opposition. Below is a list of items we need to continue to bring to their attention.
  • Ask about the deplorable condition of the memorial carving. It’s an embarrassment to the State of Georgia in its current condition.
  • Ask about the deplorable condition of the Southern States stations along Memorial Lawn. Why aren’t they being maintained?
  • Why are the memorial lawn and most of the Southern States stations closed off to the public with the cheap construction fencing?
  • Also, ask about when the Davis plantation house that burnt down in November of 2023 is going to get rebuilt, and what happened to the insurance funds received for it.
  • Why wasn't the Memorial Flag Terrace, which was donated in 1964 by the UDC, relocated to a place of similar prominence?
  • Why wasn't the SCV and the UDC (part of the original SMMA) solicited for their input on the Memorial Hall museum exhibits?
